In February 2014, an extraordinary afternoon unfolded as curator Bhavna Minocha unveiled the remarkable Masters of Bengal collection belonging to Ms. Alakananda Saha. Hosted by Ms. Ruchika Jain, the exclusive invite-only exhibition offered guests a rare opportunity to experience some of the finest works from the Bengal School and associated artistic legacies. What distinguished this event was not only the calibre of artworks—featuring legendary names including Rabindranath Tagore, Jamini Roy, A.R. Chughtai, Nandalal Bose, Debi Prasad Roy Choudhury, Ganagendranath Tagore, and an exceptional selection of 19th-century Kalighat paintings—but also its unique setting.

Departing from traditional gallery environments, the showcase was staged within a private farmhouse, creating an intimate, immersive atmosphere befitting the historical and cultural significance of the collection. More than an exhibition, the event served as a curated encounter with artistic heritage, offering viewers a deeply personal and contemplative engagement with the works. The presentation highlighted not only the brilliance of Bengal’s modernist masters but also the enduring legacy of one of India’s most influential artistic movements.
